Hello

I was always this woman. Confident, bold, and a huge lover of life. Somewhere along the way I lost my voice. Do you know why? I started listening to naysayers, to my own limiting beliefs and fears. Which were what? The world doesn't have room for plus size girls, that power is for those with fancy titles and that true impact can only be executed by those with bug fat pockets. That a small town girl like me from a city with less than 1M as the population could have a voice, have a story to tell. Who was I to dream big? To make meaningful impact? Who was I to overcome my fears and share my story? I bet you want to know what changed?

My Journey

Entrepreneur, Media Personality, Thought Leader & Changemaker

Loraine is an entrepreneur, media personality, and the founder of The MIChiko PR, established in 2010. She built her career from the ground up in industries where opportunities for women like her were often limited. Her journey began at a leading South African media brand, where she discovered a passion that extended beyond customer care. This curiosity led her into the worlds of Public Relations, Events, and Talent Management—spaces she later mastered through self-teaching, resilience, and an unwavering work ethic.

Her unique perspective and voice have earned her remarkable recognition across the continent. She was personally selected by Hollywood actress Jada Pinkett Smith as a Red Table Talk OG representing Southern Africa. In 2025, she was shortlisted as a semi-finalist in the Ashoka Program for her business concept designed to support single mothers living in townships. Her creative talents were recognised early in life as well—at just 20 years old, she was selected as a semi-finalist for Cottco Fashion Week in Zimbabwe.

Loraine’s rise has been anything but conventional. After failing her O-levels and having to rewrite them, she developed the discipline, humility, and leadership habits that would anchor her later success. With the unwavering support of her parents, she rebuilt her confidence and embraced education in her own way—an experience that laid the foundation for her advocacy work and her belief in second chances.

Today, Loraine is known for creating strategic communication pathways for some of Africa’s most sought-after media personalities. As her work reached wider audiences, her personal brand also grew, earning her multiple nominations and awards as an entrepreneur, blogger, and media figure. At the heart of her work is a strong commitment to collaboration, community-building, and the empowerment of women and youth in African communities. She believes deeply in the transformative power of digital media and partners with brands that prioritise the mental, emotional, and financial development of women in leadership and business.

Loraine is also a proud mother to a funny, charming, and sweet boy named Brantley, who inspires much of her drive, creativity, and purpose. Her story is rooted in authenticity, courage, and reinvention
