Annie – The Musical

I love movies and i draw a lot of inspiration from them  (being a creative person) so yesterday when i was meant to have lunch with my friend we opted to go and watch a movie instead. So we find ourselves at Cresta Mall starring at the movie Screen Board deciding what to watch. I wanted to watch 50 Shades of Gray and she wanted to watch Annie so she won me over and recommended that i watch Annie and she promised that i would love it, and YES i did. What a beautiful movie!!!

I think if you love Theatre you probably would know the original Broadway play but i literally knew nothing about it and i was just blown away by the story line and the main character’s humility and her warm personality. The sound track selection (AMAZING) as well as the stellar cast. This a movie worth taking your family along and having some screen bonding time . It teaches and reminded me of the value of humility, kindness and love.

Annie is a Broadway musical based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie, with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and the book by Thomas Meehan. The original Broadway production opened in 1977 and ran for nearly six years, setting a record for the Alvin Theatre (now the Neil Simon Theatre).It spawned numerous productions in many countries, as well as national tours, and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. The musical’s songs “Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard Knock Life” are among its most popular musical numbers.

The 2014 version of Annie has a great cast that features Jamie Foxx, Quvenzhané Wallis ( who plays Annie), Rose Byrne, Cameron Diaz, Bobby Carnavale and Adewale Akkinuoye Agbaje and many others. My favourite soundtracks definitely have to be Opportunity and Who am i?? Darn you guys almost had me in tears… Did you watch the movie and what are your thoughts?
