Another Queen Reigns

Congratulations to Rolene Strauss who was crowned Miss SA for 2014 last night at the venue where most if not all of SA’s glamorous events are hosted, the Sun City Super Bowl.

Rolene is 21 years of age and is a fourth year medical student at the University of the Free State. Inspired by the former Miss SA Jo-Ann Strauss. She had this to say about her 1st encounter with the former Beauty Queen  whom she obviously looks up to. “I remember meeting her as a nine-year-old girl in my hometown, Volksrust. She brought Miss SA to the people and is still making a change in the lives of others. She is the perfect example of a beautiful, strong woman who became Miss SA, went back to university, finished her studies and to this day is using all her opportunities since her crowning 13 years ago. I would love to be one of her successors” and i guess that dream did come true after all.

The question many people ask is how relevant these beauty pageants are and if they do not objectify women in our Society? What are your thoughts?? Either way we still sit down and tune in every year if you are like most folks who still love he glitz and glamour surrounding Miss SA and all other world pageants like Miss Universe and Miss World etc..
