Channel O MVAs 2012 experience

The Channel O MVAs were crazy man. We arrived in Soweto at the Kliptown Hotel which is at the Walter Sisulu Square at 13.30pm. We were running late already but i guess we did not miss out on much as the rehearsals were just starting. It was 5 years ago when i attended my first Channel O MVA event, it was hosted in Joburg CBD. I had one of my colleagues Sibongile with me. That was also the event when i first saw the Coco Master D’banj and i have loved him since and respected his craft. Weza was laughing at me and was saying she was impressed how i had gone all out to meet D’banj. She said he was one lucky guy. Since being self employed my wardrobe has changed it does not look as great as it did then. I had high heels and i wore them often and to date comfort has become my priority and i have turned into “Miss Pumps” if you know what i mean.So Weza has never seen me wearing high heeled shoes since we started working together hence she was impressed with my ensemble for the night.

The rehearsals in the afternoon were awesome. Met Zeus the Hip-Hop Artist from Botswana. He was so humble and we had a conversation for a few minutes. This was the moment that made me realise that this is really happening. I am mingling with the Stars of SA and the rest of Africa. I spotted Mi- CASA and managed to steal a pic of the 2 group members. Then i spotted the likes of SOMGAGA , Bonang, Pro , Mo – Chedda (from Nigeria), Lala and Dineo from V-Entertainment, Teargas , Dj Zinhle and the Camp Mulla,. It was fun.

The evening was dawning upon us and it was time to get ready. I have to help Weza manage her time for the night and it was interesting how i managed to pull it off even though i did not have the Schedule for the day. So we decided to freshen up, make up next and then finally the RED CARPET.

My favourite performances for the night were by DJ Zinhle, it was great to see her make an attempt at some dance moves with the dancers, i loved D’banj’s performance as well and honestly that performance was nothing without those dancers. In that regard i have to say SOMGAGA is still the master on the dance floor. Another performance that had most people including myself on our feet was Thebe and D’banj. I just lost it when he came on stage. I was doing my “Oliver Twist” move with my hands…you know it right? I cannot forget Oskido’s achievement award. He truly deserved it.

Thank you Channel O as always for a great evening. WELL DONE. You just had to be there to see the stage set up, the lighting, not forgetting the stage design which i thought was beautiful and lastly the sexy outfits the dancers had on through all performances. Congratulations to Solly and his awesome team, being a former MultiChoice employee i still appreciate all their efforts because i know and appreciate what goes behind the scenes of putting the most glamorous Music award Ceremony like this one.It was STUNNING..See you next year.

CHECK OUT ALL THE PICS later in the day
