I love African Print and it is no secret. So you can imagine what an amazing week i had when Hlamvu Afrocentric Boutique launched their store in Greenside.
Anyone and everyone in Joburg knows that there is a print fever that just took over and from the looks of it , African tribal print is here to stay and this is an absolutely great progression for us here in Southern Africa. Who knows maybe Zimbabwe may be finally inspired to have their own traditional print. Although these print are imported from Nigerian , Ghana , Tanzania etc we also have a large range that is on the market and yet is is of disappointingly cheap quality. This is a challenge for a lot of Designers who may prefer to sell only quality clothing to their clients. How do you compete with the Chinese when it comes to pricing and convenience?
Hlamvu Afrocentric is new is the Fashion Retail space but i can tell you now their product offering is worthy to be noted. They cater for both men and women. The Boutique is owned by Miss Liflet Ncube who is of Ghanaian descent and also from Zimbabwe. The range speaks for itself but for me personally what is exciting is that it caters for the plus size girl like myself. Gone are those designers when Designers used to side line us and force us to shop from the mommy and granny section.
The range is strictly African print and is . Hlamvu Afrocentric also has an accessories range as well. If you have some spare time this weekend i would highly recommend you visit them. You will not be disappointed. Did i also mentioned that this is an exclusive and limited range. All their clothing pieces are not more than 5 pieces per style…isn’t that great???
You can also contact me if you are interested in purchasing your own Hlamvu clothing item!!
