Today in History we celebrate Dr Martin Luther King. A man of courage, wisdom, faith and love.
A deep seeded love for his people and his nation. What a phenomenal man he was. To appreciate and analyse his speech a million times will not do justice to who and what he was.
I can only imagine what the atmosphere was like on that day. Over 200 000 plus Americans took to the streets on the 28th of August 1963. What a testament of a people with a united spirit, commitment and a DREAM of a better life and future for Generations to come.
His speech is a true reflection of what the human spirit can achieve. Dreams are meant to come to life. In Dr Martin’s case his dream was threaded together with his wishes for his children, his community and his country. It was that same thread that spread around the world and bound us to take note and continue to stand up and stand up for worthy causes around us.
Oh Lord. If I lived in that era I would have been scared to be tasked with that kind of a dream. To share it in the manner he did and to inspire as well as incite people to come and join him and share this DREAM against racism was something else.
He was something else. 50 years on and his dream lives on and is now the responsibility of all worldly citizens. Let’s cherish freedom, appreciate our dreams and fight for worthy causes in our Nations.
