Lessons learnt from Cassper Nyovest #FillUpTheDome

Hip Hop Artist Cassper Nyovest made history in South Africa by being the first local act to fill up the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg and just for a one night show. The Dome takes up to 22 000 people in capacity. I am not much a of Hip Hop fan. So of all my interests and what i publish on the blog why am i interested in Cassper Nyovest’s fill up the Dome?

Life is all about attitude and perspective. It is not about what you have , where you come from. It is also not about influence either because sometimes even people who are influential do not have the right perspective in life. Cassper Nyovest’s Fill Up the Dome is truly inspiring and you know i am a sucker for success stories.

Here are my 5 lessons learnt from #FillUpTheDome

1.You have to Lose your mind

Cassper Nyovest is crazy and i mean that in the best way imaginable, he is literally crazy. To wake up one day and to decide that he want so to host a show that will fill up a venue as high profiled and prestigious as the Coca Cola dome? Who does that in 2015? Who does he think he is? I am sure many people asked these questions in the beginning. The truth is you have to be crazy to believe you can change the world. You have to be insane to think you will do things better than others or differently for that matter and guess what , IT WORKS. If you do things the same way like everyone else there is no way in heaven you can fill up any dome. So the lesson here is that CRAZY is the new normal and Cassper Nyovest has proved that. You want to change the world, change your surroundings or whatever your goal is, do the unthinkable.

2. Be comfortable with being alone.

Having big dreams means few friends, nay sayers and negativity. If your dream is that important to you, get comfortable being alone in that head space of yours. If you are still looking for support and appreciation and a pat on the back, you have a long way to go. I am sorry to say that but that is just the truth. Big dreams will attract resistance and you have to lock yourself up in a little corner and be brave enough to acknowledge the journey ahead. I would be lying if i say it will not be tough, it will be but guess what it is possible and that all depends on you and how much you are prepared to achieve that goal

3. Set a different goal.

I am sure all musicians set goals related to their skill set etc. How about you set a different goal. Instead of releasing a single, #FillUpTheDome. Do something even you know is scary and will shock the shit day lights out of you. What have you got to lose? Life is hectic enough as it is, but for it to be monotonous is  something else all together. What is monotony? It is comfort. Once you are comfortable you should see red lights because that is not a good place to be in. We are created to constantly evolve and if we are not doing that at a spiritual , intellect and emotional level we are as good as dead. Who wants to be alive and not feel alive. Challenge yourself and set different goals this year, in fact TODAY if you can.

4. Have Faith

Nothing can be achieved if you do not have faith. Nothing can be achieved if you do not believe in your goals. I am a firmer believer in God and Jesus Christ who is my redeemer and Savior. I can tell you now, faith is not easy. It will challenge you, challenge your relationships and all that you have. When faith says yes, reality says no. That is where true character and grit is tested. Though none of Cassper Nyovest’s challenges are highlighted i can bet you my hard earned rands that it was not easy. So remember when you set your goals that what will get you through the tough times is faith. For those who rely on their partners i need to warn you that even bae may fall on the way side and not support your dreams. Who do you lean on then? Or what do you lean on?

5. Make history BABY!!

I am always moved by stories that truly show what the human spirit is made of. We do not tell these stories enough in our homes, in our communities and as African at large. You do not have to be famous to make history. Start small. Start today and soon you will be well on your way to achieving your goals. Never shy away from a new task or a new role due to fear and your support structure not being on your side. One of the key things about leaders is that the road ahead is not about anyone else but ultimately it is for all those around us. We are called to lead. We are the visionaries and this includes you. You are called to greatness and greatness by the way doe not entail magazine covers or fame. In your small surroundings which dome can you fill up today?

Have a blessed WEDNESDAY!!! Happy #WinnersDay
