Meet the Creatives – Social Media Series

We often complain about things that frustrate us and in those conversations we hardly identify solutions and set an action plan to improve on the things.

As a Stylist I have walked the journey of trying to build my own brand and I realized that there is a lot to learn and I am continuously inspired by creatives across SA and Africa. I truly respect the creative process Stylist go through.

The industry of Image Consultants and styling is still growing but there is still a myth that it is for celebrities or rich powerful people and that is not true.

The journey to building a successful individual brand is not an easy one and with so many Youtube and Instagram sensations it looks easy, right? The truth is it’s not. After you are Certified as an Image Consultant or Stylist , your journey now begins.

Some Magazines only employ Interns of a certain age. You can possibly get work with Celebrities but if you are unfortunate most of them just want to give you “exposure” and that is not something that will pay your bills. The battle like most entrepreneurs learn is do you pursue your dreams despite the challenges or do you accept reality and get a good job that can help you keep afloat?

For 2 years I had been trying to find a way to start this project to support and hopefully direct young and upcoming creatives in the Fashion Industry on their pathway to success.

SA Style Institute is my solution and contribution driven by my frustration in terms of the lack of support you and rising Stylists or Bloggers do not receive. This is a series of interviews created to help you map where you want to take your brand to. It is a platform where you can learn and participate and take ownership of your dreams regardless of what you want to do.

In the next few weeks you will have an opportunity to meet different Stylists across SA. My focus will be creatives from the following areas.
