Mgijimani WINS at the SAFTAs

The Annual SAFTAs were held at Gallagher Estate in Midrand this past Saturday. Isibaya and Of Good Report took top honours at the prestigious event. From the Red Carpet to the Live performances as well as the actual Production team this year’s SAFTAs were truly exceptional. I say that because i attended the SAFTAs last year and i was not exactly impressed.  I guess it’s not that easy pulling off a great show for a highly anticipated event like the SAFTAs. This year the team went all out and we saw some interesting effects on stage. This year’s Red Carpet event was ell managed and you could actually see each celeb or guest as they came on the Red Carpet.

Tumi Morake and her co-host Allan were super amazing, hilarious compared to the MCs we had lat year. I hope the SAFTAs team will be wise and bring them again next year.  Tumi and Allan please do not pull an Ellen stunt you pulled off this year. Something new and truly African would do… Congratulations to Mgijimani (Siyabonga Thwala’s character on Isibaya) and Mkabayi (Thembi Nyandeni’s character on Isibaya)…That was my highlight of the Award Ceremony as well as watching the Mahotela Queens Performing. I mean who was expecting that??? It was such a pleasant surprise. I am obsessed with them, i was impressed to find out that they are actually on Twitter and they have an active account.  Clearly the African saying “kuguga othandaya” is true of the Mahotela Queens.

Congratulations to all the winners in particular Mam’ Abigail Kubeka. WOW, WOW!!! You truly deserve it.
