The real woman in my eyes….

It’s Women’s Day today. What a beautiful day. The women who marched to the Union Buildings in 1956 are the reason we can celebrate. They remind me of my mother. Imboko eqotho. These women were brave, well spirited and shared the same vision for the South African society they wanted not only for themselves but for future generations. They did a damn good job. Look at us now.
My mother is more than a phenomenal women. I look at her and marvel not only at her inner beauty but at her spirit. She runs her own business that she started in our spare room in a 4 roomed house in Bulawayo in a township called Tshabalala.
My mom did not have the privilege to complete her studies. She had two children at a young age and like some teenage Moms she had to hustle and make ends meet too soon. She did not let this beat her down and picked up her life right away. She is a wife, an amazing mother to 4 amazing children and a grandmother to the cutest baby as well as a business woman who manages and runs her own company. I write about her and celebrate her because i don’t know any woman out there without a Diploma or Degree to her name but intelligent and wise, married with 4 children and running a successful business with the conditions of the Zimbabwe economy. I am proud of her.
She is intelligent and makes decisions even i would be scared to make. When reputable million dollar businesses were closing down and retrenching this amazing woman still ensure her business survived the tough conditions and lived to see another day of operations. Like most businesses she had to retrench as well, but in time her business has recovered. I am proud to call her my mentor, my mother and my best friend in the whole wide world.
This is the kind of woman who only takes one day off from her work schedule. She leaves the house at 8 a.m and returns at 8 p.m. Sometimes it makes me so angry how my Mom dedicates so much time to the church and her community but at the same i am honored to have a Mother like that. She is the woman who took the time to teach me how to cook, how to knit and how to take care of the ones around me. I am happy to share her with you today. Even if it’s for a day. She is a blessing to her family and her community. Women like this are rare in my eyes and i am motivated by her attitude and awesome spirit for life.
HAPPY WOMEN’s DAY FILDAH..I love you stax Mom…
