I never ever thought in my wildest dreams i would be the girl behind the scenes of one of SA’s most watched shows let alone a show on the DStv platform. I always tell myself that i am a dreamer and i own every aspect of what i choose to do with that dream, but TOP SHAYELA w as not part of that dream.
I got to meet a hunk of a pilot from Henley Air named Jacque. I had the first hand experience at what a production crew does behind the scenes. From the sound guy, the Director, the Script guy and the Camera man. We had a hot camera man by the name of S’bu and there was a moment where Weza and i were laughing as we both caught ourselves commenting about him ( we thought the microphones were on) but hey when it’s good it just is , right? I found myself at the Morningside Shopping Centre, where there so many hunks. It made me wonder why i was single? Where these guys really living on the same planet as me? Haibo! Weza showed me her favourite Salon hang out.
The Top Shayela crew were so great to work with. They were friendly, professional and they knew what they were doing. I enjoyed every minute of the shoot. Watching Weza in action is always my favourite part. She is great and i don’t say that because i can. It is what i know. People assume how easy it is to be in front of the screen. IT IS NOT.. One day you can have a head ache or you are coming from home and you had to leave your sick brother or child at home. The show has to go on. Of course one can choose not to do the shoot but in most cases these “celebs” do. It is a choice they have to make. Building an Empire is no fun oooh.. (Nigerian accent)
Watching the episode that Weza made me realize that i was right to trust my instincts, it was okay to give myself a chance at something i had no idea about. How would i learn if i did not take a chance? I wish my parents and siblings had access to watch the show so they could share the moment with me and see the fruits of my work behind the scenes. It was one of my busiest days.
That shoot took us 3 days to complete. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Thank God for his favour , Weza and thank you to whoever came up with the Top Shayela concept.
THE SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT!!!!!
